Parent Information

ARRIVAL

Upon arrival to Durfee Elementary/Middle School, located inside of Central High School students, parent and visitor must enter in door number 5.  Durfee doors open at 7:30 AM to welcome students and parents. 

• 7:30 AM:  At the bell, all students are to go directly to their classroom and may
  participate in Universal Breakfast. Teachers are to meet and greet their students outside
  their classroom door.
• 7:35 AM:  At the bell, students are tardy.
• 7:40 AM:  The bell signals breakfast is over. Teachers begin instruction.
  Any parents bringing students to school after the tardy bell will be directed to the
  Main Office to sign-in their student.

DISMISSAL

• During dismissal, Kindergarten-2nd will dismiss out the Tuxedo Street Exit Door #5 at 2:40 pm
• Grades 3rd-8th will release out Exit Door #6.
• All Parents and or Guardians picking up students prior to the dismissal bell should be
  directed to the Main Office for identification verification and sign-out
  procedures.

Mondays through Fridays, the academic day begins at 7:30 AM and ends at 2:40 PM.

STUDENT CELL PHONE POLICY 

Students are encouraged to keep their cell phones at home. If the parent determines the child may take the cell phone to school, please note the following: 

• The school discourages bringing cell phones to school. 
• The device is considered improper when and if it is turned on or seen. 
• Cell phones will be collected from students as soon as they enter the building.
• Phones will be returned to students upon their dismissal from school.
  • For early dismissal, phones will be returned to the student or parent/guardians in the main office.
• THE SCHOOL IS NOT RESPONSIBLE IF THE PHONE IS LOST, DAMAGED, OR STOLEN.
• The staff is authorized to seize any cell phone that is seen or turned on.
• Any cell phone used to video a fight will be confiscated and may result in the suspension of students.

 CONSEQUENCES 

• 1st OFFENSE- Parents must come to school to retrieve the device
• 2nd OFFENSE - Device is turned in to the Dean's office to which the Dean will refer to the Student Code of Conduct.

·      Grades 3-5 are Yellow Shirts

·      Grades K-2 are Blue Shirts

·      All bottoms can be blue, black, or khaki

·      Non-Neg. No tank tops, no halter tops

·      Non-school apparel hoodies

·      No Bandanas, hats, scarfs or leggings
